CVUSD ensures that students in temporary living situations have full and equal opportunity to succeed in school.
- We are pleased to provide the these supports to our foster and homeless students and families:
- Meals
- School supplies through the Conejo Closet
- Access to community resources (e.g. baby supplies, childcare, food banks, housing)
- We also recognize that temporary housing situations might result in increased feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, or other emotions that can be difficult to cope with. CVUSD offers a continuum of social-emotional support and services, and we encourage you to look here to obtain resources and support.

Partial Credit Calculator for Foster or McKinney-Vento Youth
Education Code 49069.5(e)(g) requires that students (Foster Youth, Probation Youth) and AB 1806 (Homeless Youth) who leave a school before the end of a term (i.e. semester, trimester), be granted all partial credits earned, regardless of whether student completed the semester at the school. The calculator link below will calculate the number of credits a student should be granted per class based on the attendance during the term in question. -

Special Populations Avid Readiness Center (SPARC)
SPARC is a joint partnership between the Ventura County Office of Education, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), and TUTORIFIC! to serve students who are placed in foster care, guardianship, kinship care, or are in a transitional living situation. For more information, click here.

Homeless Education Project (HEP)
Every school district has a homeless liaison as part of the Homeless Education Project. The duties of a liaison are to ensure that students in temporary living situations have full and equal opportunity to succeed in school. Families and youth receive educational services for which they are eligible.

Foster Youth Services (FYS)
The Foster Youth Services program is designed to serve the educational needs and improve the quality of life for foster youth residing in Ventura County. FYS serves as a community resource, providing referrals, school enrollment information and contacts.
