Emily of Thousand Oaks High is a Regeneron ISEF 2023 Society for Science Special Awards Winner

Congratulations to Thousand Oaks High School scholar Emily for being a second place Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2023 Society for Science Special Awards Winner!

The annual competition featured more than 1,600 young scientists representing 49 states and 64 countries across the world. Projects were evaluated based on their creativity, innovation, and depth of scientific inquiry.

Emily’s project, “The Feasibility and Public Perception of Implementing AED Drones Into EMS Systems,” earned a second place award from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This award includes a $300 prize, and national recognition.

The CIA is a U.S. government agency that provides objective intelligence on foreign countries and global issues to the president, the National Security Council, and other policymakers to help them make national security decisions. The Agency is made up of multidisciplinary teams that integrate the full range of our analytic, operational, support, technical and digital capabilities. The CIA is dedicated to investing in and building the next generation of a diverse and technically skilled workforce to meet the needs of the nation.

The Special Awards of Regeneron ISEF 2023 are bestowed upon students in ninth through twelfth grade who earned the right to compete at Regeneron ISEF 2023 by winning a top prize at a local, regional, state or national science fair. Emily was the 2023, and first ever, Ventura County Science Fair participant selected for the opportunity to compete in the prestigious ISEF. 

Regeneron ISEF provides a global stage for the best and brightest young scientists and engineers around the world. Through this competition, Regeneron and the Society support and invest in the next generation of leading STEM innovators who are generating ideas and acting as catalysts for the change needed to improve the well-being of all people, society and the planet.
