Academic Waiver

  • If you do not meet the subject prerequisite requirement or minimum grade requirement to enroll in a higher-level course, you need to apply for an “Academic Waiver.”

If you are currently taking an honors level class AND earn an A or B, you can register for an honors course in the same subject WITHOUT applying for an Academic Waiver. For example, if you are earning a B in honors English 8, you can register in honors English 9. If you earn less than Bs in an honors class, you must apply for an Academic Waiver to continue in honors in that subject area.

If you are currently taking a CP course, and you earn As for all marking periods, you do NOT have to apply for an Academic Waiver to take an honors course in the same subject area. If you earn less than As, you MUST apply for an Academic Waiver.
