Physical Education
CVUSD has provided each elementary school with a new physical education curriculum called SPARK. The focus of SPARK is the development of healthy lifestyles, motor skills, movement knowledge, social and personal skills.
It is expected that SPARK Physical Education/Physical Activity students will:- Enjoy and seek out physical activity.
- Develop and maintain acceptable levels of physical fitness.
- Develop a variety of basic movement and manipulative skills so they will experience success and feel comfortable during present and future physical activity pursuits.
- Develop the ability to get along with others in a movement environment (e.g., share space and equipment, employ the “golden rule” of competition-be a good sport, and demonstrate cooperative behavior.

PE GRADING PROCEDURES:
Grades will be determined by the students’ participation, attitude, effort and sportsmanship. Athletic ability is not graded.
RULES USED DURING PE:Students will:
- Demonstrate Madroña Mustang Pride by being respectful, demonstrating a positive attitude, including everyone and practicing their personal best.
- Line up in a designated PE area on the blacktop.
- Wear appropriate clothing and athletic shoes.
- Participate unless a note is provided from home. A doctor’s note is required to be excused from PE for more than 3 consecutive days. The note must include a statement of the reason for being excused from PE and the return date. In some cases, a clearance note must be provided by the doctor. A note does not excuse a student from attending class for roll call. The student needs to remain in the area assigned by the PE teacher.
