A Voice for Students: Meet Aidan Light, Student Board Trustee 24-25 School Year

Aidan LightPlease join us in welcoming Aidan Light to his role as the Student District Advisory Committee (SDAC) Student Board of Education Representative for the 2024-2025 academic year!

Aidan Light is a senior at Thousand Oaks High School and this is his 13th and final year in the Conejo Valley Unified School District.  In 2022, Mr. Light joined the SDAC, where he has been part of the executive board and served as the Vice Chair of the Budget/LCAP Superintendent’s Committee. Through these roles, he has had the honor of discussing many recent initiatives including Ethnic Studies, financial literacy, and campus culture. To best represent and take into consideration students’ voices, he also piloted the first SDAC survey that went out to TOHS students regarding the Committee’s upcoming discussion topics; nearly 500 students completed the survey.

As the Student Board Trustee, Mr. Light said, “I hope to connect with and hear from many community members to have the most informed perspective, and cannot wait to learn and grow in this position. I truly believe that, between our many school sites, supportive faculty and community, and various opportunities and programs, there is a place for every student in the Conejo Valley USD.”

This is the sixth consecutive year that a student from the Student District Advisory Committee (SDAC) will serve as a Student Board of Education Representative.

SDAC is made up of approximately 3-7 students from each high school site. The Student DAC representatives meet once a month with CVUSD Assistant Superintendents and Directors to discuss policies, events and important topics concerning students and the district. More about the mission/purpose of SDAC and the scheduled meeting dates for the 2024-2025 school year is available on the dedicated SDAC webpage: www.conejousd.org/SDAC.

SDAC welcomes student input at their meetings via public comment. Students can also communicate with SDAC via their Instagram, and through outreach to any of the SDAC representatives from CVUSD's five high school sites.

Welcome, Mr. Light! We look forward to having you on the dais of the 2024-2025 school year!
