504 Procedural Safeguards
-
Section 504 is a federal civil rights law that is designed to eliminate disability discrimination in programs and activities that receive federal funds. Students with a disability under Section 504 are those that have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, including education/learning. If your child had an active Section 504 Plan at the time of school closures, please see further information below on how their Plan will be implemented during COVID-19 related school closures.
- During this time, your child’s Section 504 Plan accommodations will remain in place to the greatest extent feasible as they apply to distance learning. Teachers will consider the use of accessible distance technology and other curriculum-based activities that have been designed with your child’s unique needs in mind.
- Please note that during CVUSD school closures, Section 504 plan meetings will not be scheduled. Additionally, the meetings that were previously scheduled to take place during the school closures will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
- Should you have questions about your child’s Section 504 Plan, you may reach out to your school site 504 Coordinator directly (Elementary Principals, Middle School Assistant Principals, High School Assistant Principals of Instruction), or you may contact Ms.Christina Harrison, District 504 Coordinator.
